Dear Ms. Finn
I write this note with a very special sense of gratitude for what you have and continue to do for Ashley. Prior to your class Ashley viewed English as a requirement and not a subject that was to be enjoyed. She not only enjoys your class but you
have done so, so much to build her self-confidence. As an example, over the weekend she picked up a book for leisure IN ADDITION asked to go the library to start Siddhartha. Today she commented on her ability to use and apply some of the
perspectives she got from her leisure reading to the in class essay. Last week she shared her in class essay that gave her a first 6- she was so proud of herself. Please know how much I appreciate your dedication to the students and the especially
profound impact you have had on Ashley. Her self-confidence and motivation are spilling over to her entire academic experience this year and you have been responsible for an amazing transformation. Thank you for believing in her and
supporting her. I really hope she can stay with you through the rest of the year.
Best

My apologies if this is a little bit out of left field. My daughters Chris and Beth are your students, and I wanted to thank you for your recent unit on PTSD. I read the packet you provided with Baum's article "The Price of Valor" as well as the other
information. We have had a number of great discussions these past weeks inspired by your class and the information you had them consider. Thank you for bravely taking on a difficult subject - one that I believe that America is only now awakening to.

You are such a great teacher. I see visibly changes in Brian's attitude towards English this semester. Your detailed comments in his papers are very helpful and I think Brian gets them easily. I am really excited about what I think is the transformation we having been hoping for. - J. Xu, Ph.D. (2014)
Hi Ms. Finn,
You may not remember my daughter Adrianne who was a student of yours two years ago. She transferred from Kennedy into your class and she JUST LAST WEEK (this is the child who does not share anything with us) shared with us what an impact you made on her in your class. Wow was I surprised to hear what she had to say about you and how you identified that Adrianne was behind preparing for the AP exam and you recognized that she had great potential to possible achieve a 5 on the exam. As you know she did receive a 4 and just to let you know (if you didn't already) that she did receive a 5 in AP Lit/comp this year!!! She was ecstatic!!!
Thank you for all that you did to encourage Adrianne to do her best and believe in her.
Blessings,
K. Chiaravallotti (2010)
Wow, thanks again Ms Finn for a great year of teaching for Patti Jo. You have turned around her image of what English class can hold for her and we will be ever thankful. - N. Corr (2013)
Hello Ms. Pinto,
Winter would be embarrassed that I’m still sending the occasional goofy email, but in case she never expresses it, I wanted to let you know that she so enjoyed having you this year! With you as her very favorite teacher, she learned so much, improved her writing, and really gained a sense of confidence with English. We’re both hoping she’ll get to have you again! Have a great summer!
